American cult favourite ‘Sons of Anarchy’ has been hidden away on British TV before, but now gets a from-the-start repeat on Five USA, beginning at 10pm on Wednesday 20 January. It’s about an outlaw motorcycle gang based in the fictional town of Charming, California. It’s now been renewed for a second and third season in the US, and people who like it seem to like it a lot.
In normal circumstances, Unpopcult would be reviewing it. These aren’t normal circumstances, though: as well as everything that we’re already covering, the next couple of weeks sees the return of Unpopcult favourites ‘Modern Family’ (8pm, Thursday, Sky 1), ‘24‘, ‘Mad Men’, ‘Desperate Housewives’, and ‘Lost’, as well as the UK debuts of well-received Julianna Margulies vehicle ‘The Good Wife’ and vampire vehicle ‘The Vampire Diaries’. (‘Brothers and Sisters’ is back this Thursday on More4 as well, if anyone’s watching.)
So God knows how we’re going to cope with all of that, but we might well start by not adding cultish, violent dramas about motorcycle gangs to our roster. Or I might give it a go and like never watch ‘Heroes‘ again instead.
