Without a Trace s7 ep 16

Another good, solid episode this week with a missing mother-and-baby (and therefore double emotional whammy) story infused with the obligatory “your past always comes back to haunt you and the people you love” lesson to learn.

I wasn’t entirely convinced by the basic premise, and I did wonder why this week the team was suddenly insistent on applying the rule of law, when several times this series they’ve decided “ah never mind, dude’s had a tough break, let him go” but it was still decent viewing, and there was no soapy personal stuff about the agents themselves, so I’m not complaining.

I totally thought she was dead at the end. I had the same thought as you re the old crime, but do we know that Sam actually did call the police…?

I s’pose we don’t, Red, good point. Although the show is not usually that subtle about it so I thought they would have shown us Sam starting to make the call then changing her mind and telling the cops “ah nothing, never mind” if she hadn’t actually shopped the guy. I think I like it better your way though, so now the dad is not shopped, and he and mum and baby can be happy together, hurrah!

I was quite worried about the mum at the end as well – baby + dead mum + about-to-be imprisoned dad would have been a major downer….
