According to various sources, including this , ITV2 and Warner Bros start selling the first ten episodes of The Vampire Diaries on iTunes tonight. They won't start airing them on UK tv till February. According to Warner Bros, "This highly innovative approach to releasing 'The Vampire Diaries' gives us and ITV2 the chance to maximise excitement ahead of its UK premiere in February, and provides consumers with a high-quality legal alternative to pirated versions."

You know what's another "high-quality legal alternative to pirated versions", dude? Frigging put it on tv now.

Also, is it me, or do Michael's relatives run into a unfeasibly large amount of people who require his particular brand of 'help'?

At least in Season 1, Nate didn't suddenly appear out of nowhere, with no explanation, like Dawn in Buffy. That infuriated me!

I don’t think Sarah shot herself. She’s still out there somewhere . . . I don’t think we’ve seen the last of her (alas).

I fear you may be right, Angie. And we're destined to hear "honey" some more. Argh. Maybe Lucas will end up shooting her for us. (Please.)

Capt, I agree with you about Bremner. I had to pretty much ignore him to enjoy it, I thought he was acting like he was in a spoof or something.

Hola Peanuts. I think Christian McKay has been getting quite a bit of complimentary buzz from various critics and you're right it was a very Oscar-baiting performance, so he might well be considered for nomination. I don't think he'll make the final top 5 nominees, although I wouldn't mind if he did. He was indeed very good, everyone was.

Hey CJ! As one of your aforementioned cinema buddies I thought I'd post a coupla thoughts. Sitting in between you (the consummate Zac fan) and cinema bud no 3 (the master of all things Orson-related) I felt a bit, well, thick really. I knew little about either of them.

I guess, though, expectation free, that left me able just to enjoy the flick. And I really did. I felt so comforted by the sepia tones of that bygone era, I coveted some of Sonja-the-great-meanie's outfits (especially the oversized buttons on her frock...mmm) and I loved the whole learning experience of the theatre (and the bizarre theatrical folks who I don't really think we were meant to like in the normal sense of the word).

It's not to say that I don't agree with you about most of the characters either CJ 'cause I do. They ranged from frigid to psychotic - and every single one of them was a self-indulgent mess. Even Welles (I agree that the guy who played him was great). I wonder what the 2010 Oscar people think of his performance - isn't it the sort of gloriously over the top kind of thing that's likely to secure a nomination? Anyhow, I will try to remember to give our man No. 3 a quick nudge and he can post is 'toits' too. TTFN

I haven't seen GOR in anything else, so it's not far for me to say she's a bad actress based on this role alone. I think she's just really sorely miscast in this role.(I also thought Jonas Armstrong was a bad choice for Robin Hood - he should have been one of the gang, not the leader . . . but I digress).

She can't help how she's being directed or how her character is written, of course, but that fundamental lack of a grasp of a decent, believable American accent is a huge stumbling block, IMHO. Way too distracting! I sit there rolling my eyes . . . and the way she says "honey" is not in the least endearing.

What the... Was the Casting Director off sick the day they cast Ewen Bremner? He wsa bloody awful.

Didn't really like this. It all felt like filler building up to episode 8. Despite the fact the British economy was just about turn into Zimbabwe they kind of forgot.

I'm sure Ros is fragrant, but she needs to wear different gear. Or maybe not wearing the same clothes all the time will take away her abandoned property finding skills.

Tariq just wants to be in 24. It's all patch me a socket and stick this entire broadcasting system in your ear. Bring back Malcolm and Colin with an old valve radio and some scones.
