The Good Wife s2 ep 6
Sometimes, like this week, The Good Wife contents itself with just being fantastically entertaining. In “Poisoned Pill’ LGB have inherited a class action against a pharmaceutical company which manufactured an antidepressant with unpleasant side-effects. Just as Diane and Alicia are about to kick some courtroom ass they find out that they’re up against Michael J. Fox, playing disabled attorney Louis Canning and pulling stunts of dubious legitimacy to get the jury onto his side. So LGB fight back by sexing up their own case, including a video of rats having some kind of drug-crazed orgy. It’s as LA Law-ish an episode as we’ve had this season, and while it certainly doesn’t go as deep as last week it’s tremendous fun, as is the business with Eli, Wendy, and the viral video. All that and Yeasayer at the end. Enough already, though, of Blake vs Kalinda.
Really enjoyed it. Especially Will’s face in court when they were playing the crazy rat video and when Diane was asking about the exhibitionism and whatnot. He looked so amused and pleased with himself. Heh.
Honestly, though, Blake – shove off. And take Kalinda’s psycho ex with you. Before anyone connects the burglary of the psychiatrist to the firm, if possible. (Unlikely, I know.)
Michael J Fox was awesome in this episode, and I loved the bus pass scene – it was hilarious. Watching Alicia face off against him was tons of fun – and makes you realize how much smarts she has.
I thought that Blake and Kalinda moved a little further in this episode (I know you didn’t Jed), and just took their sexual attraction/animosity to the next level. And I always love Lili Taylor, so I was happy to see her, weirdo characters that she tends to play and all (loved her opening public defender scene).
This show is just so good.
Lili Taylor was indeed excellent, and yet another example of how well TGW casts and integrates guest actors.
The rat video made me laugh out loud, particularly at the end of it when the jury reacted.
